General    Our Vision and Mission   What We Believe

General:

We are ordinary people, from a wide variety of backgrounds who have a shared belief and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and a desire to tell all about Him. We meet on Sundays to praise, worship and learn more of God through our Sunday services, and on Tuesday nights to pray for the work of the church, our community, our country, and the world. Our services are open to all who wish to attend.

Our Vision and Mission:

We aim to serve, grow and worship the Lord our God, through continued worship and praise. We also aim to spread the good news of His love, grace and sacrifice to all, through regular events and activities in the church and in the communities.

What We Believe:
We ascribe to the 1966 Baptist Affirmation of Faith. Essentially our fundamental beliefs are as follows:

1.) About God

We believe in one true God who created and rules the heavens and the earth. We believe that He exists as three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and that these three are equal, and one.

2.) About the Bible

We believe that the bible, both the old and new testament scriptures, are the true Word of God, written by humans under guidance and inspiration from the Holy Spirit. It is the ultimate truth in what we believe, and how we live our lives and is the sole authority in matters of faith, belief, conduct, practice and discipline.

3.) About Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is God the Son who existed in human form.  We believe in the virgin birth, that he was conceived by the Holy Spirit to the virgin Mary and that He lived a pure and sinless life. In fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies, He was sentenced to death on a cross as a substitute for all our sins. He died, but then rose from death, thereby demonstrating His power over death and sin. He ascended into heaven where He lives at the right hand of God, the Father. We believe He will one day return to this earth again in glory.

4.) The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son. He exists to make us aware of our need for Jesus Christ in our lives and lives inside us from our moment of salvation providing us with the power, strength and understanding to live our lives worthy of children of God.

5.) Salvation and Heaven

We believe that salvation is received through faith in God and acceptance of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We believe that Jesus' death and resurrection were a punishment for our sins and believe and trust in Him so as accept this salvation. It is only through this belief and acceptance that we can enter the kingdom of heaven and it cannot be received purely by good deeds and actions.

6.) Baptism

We believe that baptism is the next step for any Christian, after the acceptance of salvation. It is a symbolic public gesture of the acceptance of Jesus Christ into our lives as commanded by Jesus himself to all his followers after He himself was baptised. We practice baptism by full immersion, thereby symbolising the death of our old lives in sin and our new lives reborn at one with Christ. Baptism alone, without faith, cannot save us
