Parish Nursing Service

“Tell me more about Parish Nursing…”

Parish nursing is all about supporting people and communities towards whole person healthcare.

Parish nurses work with people of all ages and backgrounds, those with any faith or none.

They focus on the whole person, rather than just a specific medical condition, integrating all the different aspects of health.

The Parish Nurse (PN) is a registered nurse with specialised training who helps people with a variety of different health needs.
They can offer support for physical, mental and spiritual well-being, which can include:

Visits if you are in hospital or recovering at home.
Accompanying you to difficult medical appointments.
Personal health advice and information.
Health promotion and screening.
Spiritual support including prayer if desired.
Liasing with local health and social care providers.

All information will be kept confidential, unless safeguarding issues arise.

“Who is Our Parish Nurse?”

Hello, my name is Gill Allin. I am a volunteer working with Sudbourne and Tunstall Baptist Church.

I have a Bsc (Hons) in Adult Nursing and have had experience in a variety of settings, including district nursing, specialist school nursing, neurological care and dementia care.

I used to teach baby sign language as I am passionate about supporting communication needs amongst all ages and abilities. I currently work at a local hospice and a nursing care centre.

I am a mother to three children and foster children with complex additional needs.
